Pumpkin Contest 2014

Pumpkin Contest Rules

I’d like to CHALLENGE all of you creative library patron’s to decorate a pumpkin to represent a book character (NO TV or cartoon characters) and display at the library during the last  week of October.

Pumpkins are to be painted or colored with markers, NOT carved. Acrylic paints or permanent markers work best. Watercolors tend to run. Yarn, construction paper, pipe cleaners, cloth, wigs, old clothes, etc. may be used to decorate the pumpkin; paste or glue may also be used.  Absolutely no carved pumpkins!!! Carved pumpkins rot, attract bugs, and smell.  Carved pumpkins will not be accepted in the contest and will be sent back home.

There may be only one entry per person, clearly identified on a 3” x 5” index card:

    1. Name of the book character, book, and author of the book (front of card)   We would also like to display the book beside the entry if possible.
    2. Place name on the back of the card - if a student’s entry place grade
    3. All entries are due by 4:30 p.m. on October 27, 2014.
    4. The winner will receive a gift card, additional places may receive a book.

Pumpkins will be displayed in the library during the week of October 27 – October 31. We encourage entries that are not overly ripe or soft since they will be displayed for a week. All pumpkins must be taken home by Monday afternoon. Any remaining pumpkins will be taken to the dumpster.
