Check It Out!

The frost (and snow) is on the pumpkin and fall has arrived so it’s time to get started with our fall programing. School age kids are invited to join us for a couple of stories and a craft each week during our After School Friends at 2 p.m. on Wednesday’s starting on October 24th. We meet every Wednesday unless there is no school or an early out for weather or a holiday early out until KFC resumes in the spring.

The Toddler Time story hour meets on the 2nd Saturday of the month at 10 a.m. for about 45 minutes. We have two adult book clubs, one meets monthly on the 2nd Monday at 11a.m. and the other meets bimonthly at 7 p.m., as well as a coloring group that comes and goes every Tuesday from 1 – 3 p.m.

The best new news is that in our BRIDGES on-line catalog the state library has just added MAGAZINES and they don’t count against your book limits. Log on using our web page and check out the many choices. The plan is to try it for a year and if it goes well continue with it as one of the benefits of using the digital library.

Some of the new books on the shelf include Holy Ghost by John Sanford, Girl, Wash Your Face by Rachel Hollis, Fear by Bob Woodward, Red War by Vince Flynn, A Spark of Light by Jodi Picoult.

I hate to even mention this in October but since it snowed last week it’s time to remind everyone that it is the policy of the library that when AGWSR school is cancelled for winter weather the library will be closed.

Our open house Saturday to celebrate 85 Years at the Ackley Public Library, finishing of the sidewalk project and Zach’s Eagle Scout project turned out to be a really busy day around the community and to those unable to attend I want to be sure to say THANK YOU to all who support us in so many ways, from those we see every week, those who use the WyFy from outside on a bench or in their cars, and those who use the digital library (BRIDGES) from home, to those who donate time, books, magazines and money to support the library for our community. THANK YOU!!!! THANK YOU!!!! THANK YOU!!!!
