February 2, 2015

 Check It Out!

"Buenas"  Back from vacation but I actually spent part of each day in the ship’s library so you were on my mind.  It was interesting to see what others were reading as we traveled.  It looks to me like books to hold in your hand are still very popular as well as Kindle and iPad readers and that the book selection is about the same as what we are reading here.

We will have our first Toddler Read of 2015 on Saturday, February 7 from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m.  Parents/Grandparents and toddlers are welcome to join us for some reading fun!  This is a great opportunity to introduce your toddler to the library!

February 9th at 11 a.m. the book Rabbit-Proof Fence by Doris Pilkington will be the topic of the morning book discussion book.  It is a remarkable true story of three young girls who cross the harsh Australian desert on foot to return to their home.

We have weeded down the VHS tapes to one drawer.  If you still have a player stop in and we’ll make you some real deals.  It’s also time to take out the 2013 magazines and eventually recycle them.  If you have a use for some of these please stop by in the next couple of weeks and claim some of them.

Some of the newest book titles on the shelves:  I Forgot to Remember by Meck, Everything I Never Told You by Ng, The Boston Girl by Diamant, The Girl On The Train by Hawkins, Wink of an Eye by ChandlerWillis, River of No Return: A Jake Trent Novel by Bertsch, Retribution: A Kirk McGarvey Novel by Hagberg, Dogwood Hill by Woods and Once Upon a Lie: A Thriller by Barbieri.  We also have added a few audio books – The Dead Season by Christobel, Deadly Stakes by Jance, Deeply Odd by Koontz, Dust by Cornwell, Guilt: An Alex Delaware Novel by Jonathan Kellerman, Gun Games by Faye Kellerman and Patterns of Grace by Macomber.

I know it’s early but February is a short month so mark you calendar for noon on March 6th as we have Lunch and Learn with Linda McCann, author of the book Lost Franklin and Grundy Counties, a special After School Friends kids program will be given by magician Rick Brammer from The Book Farm on Wednesday March 4th and our night book discussion book invites you to join us as guest authors The Stiletto Girls will join us on March 18th at 7 p.m.  More about all of this later.
